Pace, Walking & Accessibility

One of the quiet joys of a private tour is that the day moves at your speed. Whether you want gentle viewpoints and long lunches or a proper leg-stretch on the moors, here is how walking, driving and pace work — and how we make every day easy to enjoy.

What to wear

Gentle by default, flexible by design — days that suit every age and ability.

The short version

As active — or as easy — as you want

There is no set amount of walking on an Expedition Yorkshire day. Because the tour is private, the pace is yours: we can fill the day with viewpoints reached in a few steps, or build in longer walks for those who love them. Most guests land somewhere comfortably in between.

The vehicle is always close by, stops are short and level unless you ask otherwise, and there is no timetable to keep — so nobody feels hurried and nobody gets left behind.

Three ways to take the day

Mix and match through the day — nothing is fixed.

1

Mostly by vehicle

See the very best of Yorkshire with only short walks from the vehicle to each viewpoint, village or café. Ideal for relaxed days and guests who prefer to take it easy.

2

Gentle strolls

Add easy, level walks of ten to twenty minutes — a riverside path, a village wander or an abbey ruin — with the vehicle never far away and plenty of places to pause.

3

A proper leg-stretch

Keen walkers can add longer routes on the moors or up to a waterfall or summit. Tell us in advance and we will plan the timings, terrain and footwear.

Comfort & access

Designed to suit everyone

Step-friendly vehicle

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class has easy steps and space for folding wheelchairs and walking aids, so getting in and out is simple.

Every generation

From young children to grandparents, we choose stops that work for the whole party — with seating, shade and shelter close by.

We park close

Your driver-guide knows where to stop, so viewpoints and villages are reached with the shortest, easiest walk possible.

Time to breathe

No rushing between sights. We build in breaks for coffee, lunch and simply sitting to enjoy the view.

Mobility needs welcome

Tell us about any requirements when you enquire and we will tailor the route, terrain and timings around them.

Comfortable drives

Short, scenic legs between stops — the miles between highlights are part of the pleasure, not something to endure.

How a day flows

Close highlights, comfortable miles

A typical day runs about seven to eight hours from pick-up to drop-off. Yorkshire’s highlights sit close together, so you spend far more time enjoying places than travelling between them — and the driving you do is scenic, relaxed and part of the day. Your guide reads the group and the weather, adjusting the plan so the pace always feels right.

Good to know

Common questions about pace & access

As much or as little as you like. By default most stops are short, level strolls of a few minutes — from the vehicle to a viewpoint, a village or a café. If you enjoy walking we can add longer routes; if you would rather stay close to the vehicle, that is completely fine too.
Yes. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class has easy steps and comfortable seating, we park close to each stop, and the day is never rushed. Tell us about any mobility needs and we will choose viewpoints and villages that work well, with plenty of time and places to sit.
We can plan a day around step-free viewpoints and accessible stops, and there is room in the vehicle for folding wheelchairs and walking aids. Share your requirements when you enquire and we will confirm exactly what is possible for your group.
A full day usually runs seven to eight hours from pick-up to drop-off. Yorkshire’s highlights sit close together, so drives between stops are typically short and scenic — and comfortable time in the vehicle is part of the enjoyment, not just getting from A to B.
