Terms & Conditions
The terms on which Expedition Yorkshire Ltd provides its private tours, transfers and chauffeur journeys. Please read them before you book.
Definitions & your agreement
A "journey" means the services you book — a sightseeing tour, guided drive, day out or transfer — together with any additional services we agree. "Written" includes both paper and electronic communication. An agreement is formed once we receive your payment or deposit and confirm availability.
Payment
Payment is usually required on the day of the tour or before your journey begins. We accept card, bank transfer (BACS), cash, PayPal and cheque; cheques must clear at least seven days before the tour. All bookings are subject to confirmation of availability. Prices are quoted per vehicle for your whole group of up to seven guests and include VAT.
Cancellations & refunds
If you cancel more than 28 days before departure, you receive a full refund less a 15% administrative booking fee. Cancellations between 7 and 28 days before departure typically receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 7 days of departure are non-refundable and the full price remains payable. There is no charge simply to enquire or to hold a date while we finalise your plan.
Bookings cancelled at short notice because of Covid-19 remain payable, as these costs should normally be recoverable through your travel insurance.
If we cannot run your journey
If Expedition Yorkshire is unable to provide your journey — for example because of guide illness, a family emergency or other cause beyond our control — we will issue a full refund. Beyond that refund we have no further liability to you.
Problems during a journey
In the event of a mechanical breakdown, illness or other problem during a journey, we may cancel, provide a replacement vehicle, or vary the itinerary. Other than any discretionary pro-rata refund we choose to offer, we will have no liability to compensate you.
Safety & conduct
We have an obligation to keep all of our customers safe. We reserve the right to exclude any passenger whose behaviour is inappropriate or unsafe. All passengers must remain seated with seatbelts fastened while the vehicle is in motion.
Health & fitness
Some activities involve a degree of physical exertion and carry inherent risks. You are responsible for ensuring you are fit to take part, and we recommend consulting your doctor before booking if you have any concerns. We may amend an itinerary where we consider it necessary for a customer's safety.
Itinerary, weather & road conditions
Itineraries may change because of factors outside our control, such as weather or road closures. Tours proceed unless there are exceptional circumstances or a meteorological red warning covers the area. Please dress appropriately for the day; umbrellas are usually available to borrow. If you request an alternative or additional itinerary, any resulting extra costs are your responsibility and refunds may be forfeited.
Special requests
We will do our best to accommodate dietary, mobility and other special requests given reasonable advance notice. Expedition Yorkshire cannot be held responsible for unreasonable requests, and unusual requests may incur additional charges.
Tour duration & timings
A full-day tour typically lasts seven to eight hours from collection to drop-off. Late arrivals do not extend the tour; the day finishes at the scheduled time.
Gratuities
Service charges are not included in our fares. Any tip for your driver-guide is entirely at your discretion.
Photography
Unless you ask us not to, Expedition Yorkshire Ltd reserves the right to use photographs taken on our tours for promotional purposes, including on our website and social media.
Travel insurance
We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential. We are not responsible for any medical expenses, or for any costs, loss or damage you suffer as a result of illness or accident.
Pets
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate pets.
Refreshments & entrance fees
Meals, refreshments and admission or entrance fees are not included unless specifically stated. These costs are the customer's responsibility.
Acceptance
Confirming a booking indicates your full understanding and acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
